Why join Indonesia Council as a member?

Paid membership allows us to cover our modest operating costs (including maintaining this website) and to support keynote speakers at the biennial ASAA conferences.

More importantly, membership provides added benefits for you, including eligibility for:

•  Other events, activities and subsidies as suggested by you

One thing that won’t change, regardless of whether you sign up for paid membership or not, is our popular monthly newsletter.

Membership categories and fees

To join as a member you must first decide whether you want to take out joint Indonesia Council-Asian Studies Association of Australia (ASAA) membership or Indonesia Council-only membership. Joint membership attracts a 10% discount and the benefits of being a member of both organisations.

To purchase a joint Indonesia Council-ASAA membership, follow these steps:

  • Visit the ASAA website

  • Scroll down to the Joint ASAA / Regional Council Membership Options section

  • Navigate to Joint Indonesia Council Membership and follow the links

For technical support relating to joint Indonesia Council-ASAA memberships, please contact ASAA.

  • It is easy to add Indonesia Council membership to your existing ASAA membership.

    1) First, log in at Member Login on the ASAA website. Once logged in, navigate to the Members Dashboard and select "My Account".

    2) Select the " Subscriptions" option on the lefthand column, then click the View button on your currently active subscription.

    3) Under the heading “Subscription totals”, click the button “Change my subscription plan” under your currently active subscription.

    4) You will see a list of ASAA and joint ASAA membership options. Locate the appropriate IC–ASAA joint membership plan you would like to join, and change the “0” to “1”, then click the “Switch subscription” button at the very bottom.

    Rest assured that the clever folks at ASAA have set it up so your joint memberships will be synchronised so that you are charged on a pro-rata basis initially, and so that the joint memberships renew at the same time annually.

Ordinary membership: This annual membership level is for continuing academic staff and professionals in ongoing employment.

Indonesia Council Membership - Retiree

This annual membership level is for members who are retired.

Indonesia Council Membership - members based in Indonesia

This discounted membership category is available to individuals living and working in Indonesia. We are currently not offering this membership category on a joint membership basis with ASAA.

Indonesia Council Membership - postgraduate and casual academic staff

This annual membership level is for full time postgraduate students, and casual academic staff.
